Out of all RNF School Recycling Competition participating schools, Namutoni PS scooped up the title ‘2014/2015 Most Improved School’. Their prize was a week-long trip to NaDEET Centre sponsored by the Environment Investment Fund.
‘At NaDEET I learned things I didn’t know, I did not respect the environment, I use to litter and if I pick up papers I did not do it intentionally but now I learned that if I pick up papers the environment looks so ‘sweet’ and clean’ reflects Fenni Angukku.
Learning more about recycling, they also learnt other waste management techniques including reducing and reusing. However when the learners were asked what was significant about their week, most were impressed with solar cooking. They were especially impressed by how well it works, and that not only does it save the environment, but also that it saves a lot of money.
