The expected result of the ESD Task Force is to assist in the "reorientation, upscaling and integrating EE/ESD in environmental awareness, education and training systems, research and innovation systems, policies, programmes and action for sustainable development". The ESD Task Force is to achieve this through fostering the implementation of the National EE/ESD Policy, assist in mobilizing financial resources and develop strategic partnerships with leading environmental and sustainable development organisations.

Task Force Members have been nominated from a variety of backgrounds including government ministries, international agencies, non-governmental organisations. Members must have extensive knowledge in the field of EE/ESD.
