That’s what several Maltahöhe residents told NaDEET staff when we visited them in June.  NaDEET staff interviewed seven of the Maltahöhe Community Group members who had attended NaDEET Centre in November 2011 to find out how they were taking advantage of new technology and practices learned at NaDEET to improve their lifestyles. All of the participants we talked to told us they used their solar cookers at least once a week, but most said they use it every day when there is sunshine. 

We visited on a cold and cloudy day and almost every house we went to were actively using their fuel-efficient stoves. Participants told us they were saving between $10-$40pw buying less wood – the bigger the family, the greater the saving.

So the proof is in – you can save money and combat climate change – all at the same time!
