NaDEET teamed up with the Swakopmund Municipality to provide a workshop for representatives (aged 12-18) from 9 different Swakopmund area schools. The workshop was a part of the Municipality’s ongoing “Education for Sustainable Development” campaign made possible through its partnership with The City of Malmö, Sweden.  The 90 minute lesson started off with an introduction to energy and the “ability to do work.” Learners were prompted to think about the different types of energy sources available to them, and how they relate to “Sustainable Energy 4 ALL,” the UN campaign to improve access, and support renewable and efficient technologies in developing countries. During the Exploring Light Bulbs experiment, a crowd favourite, learners compared the heat output of an incandescent, LED, and compact fluorescent bulb to measure efficiency.
