January 2021

Over 200 trees and rain!

Namibian summer is here and finally after a long drought we have had approximately 50 mm of rain so far. This makes it the perfect time to plant the Camel-thorn saplings that we have been growing throughout this past year in our tree nursery. With the help of two university students, our kitchen, garden and maintenance team have planted over 200 trees over the holidays.

Workshop Series Participants Give Input

In preparation for our new “Teach for ESD” Teacher Development Programme, we invited stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to give us their input through a series of three workshops. Teachers, education advisors and academics, and fellow non-governmental environmental educators advised us on various aspects of the project design, material needs and monitoring and evaluation. The project will commence in January 2021.

Improving Urban Sustainability Centre

Although NaDEET Urban Sustainability Centre is relatively new, we had the opportunity to add a cafeteria and make improvements to the content of the centre. We await to see you after the COVID-19 restrictions make it possible.
