April 2017

Penduka, penduka

During April almost 60 teachers gathered at NaDEET Centre in three separate workshops to translate NaDEET's popular pre-primary booklet pack "It's Time to Grow" into Namibian languages. Penduka, meaning "Wake up!" is the theme of one of the new Sun booklet poem. The other booklets are Water, Animals & Plants and Recycling. This project aims to improve Quality Education in Namibia through the promotion of indigenous languages and of course the environment. Teachers at the workshop- as with all of our participants- solar cooked, saved water and explored the Namib. Many remarked it was the best professional development training they had ever attended as it really taught them new practical skills that they can use in their work and at home!
